Let's install Joomla!

Before you install Jommla you need to have a hosting. I use Rochen Hosting. Very reliable and customer support is great. Highly recommend it.

So here's how OfficeForLess.org looks right now before I install Joomla on it.

So let's install Joomla.
Step 1: Download latest Joomla from here

Step 2: Upload Joomla files to your www directory.

Step 3: Install it. Check Installation Manual if you don't know how to install.

All done.

So after I installed Joomla it looks like this

What about Home Page?

I think it should be simple and useful. Let's thinks about it
- Smart Shopper - Need coupons, Useful information, Tips
- Businessman - Want to promote his products what link I'll click
- Freelance writer - Want to write articles and get paid for it.

So I think I have a Home Page design :):

I've been in IT business for long time. Back then you have to pay a lot of money for Professional website. Pay tons of money to web developer. It's not true anymore. You can do it for 0$ and I'll show you how.

You must have computer skills thought :). If you do please enjoy rest of article. If don't ... you can also enjoy this article :).

First you need to think about what you want to do with you website. Here's what I need to have on OfficeForLess.org:
- Blog (Articles and Tips)
- Community (Fun)
- Reviews & Directory (Advise)
- Forum (Opinions exchange)

I'll use Joomla CMS because it can do all of this. It's very powerful CMS (Content Management System). Best part of it - it's FREE. Joomla has thousands components, modules and plug-ins. So you can do almost "everything" with it.

Let's take a look again how I can accomplish my goal:

- Blog (Joomla itself)

- Community (JomSocial - Social Network component for Joomla). Not Free but you can use Community Builder instead and it's Free.

- Reviews (JReviews - Reviews & Ratings for Joomla. Very Very powerful component. That why it not free ether.). Joomla itself has rating system plus here's a lot of Free Reviews Components for Joomla.

- Forum (Kunena - Free forum for Joomla)

So next step would be setup. I'll talk about it tomorrow. Right now I need to spend some time with my family :)

Today I registered new domain name www.officeforless.org and paid for it $10.17. I have small business and I think I touch hot topic - Save on your office expenses. And I want to make fortune from it :).

I'm planing to create a social blog where people can share information about discount office supplies, office furniture, chairs and etc.

I think right now people value coupons and savings much more then before. If you want to share your "office discount" story please feel free to do so.
